Volatile oils (α- and β- thujone, thujol, felandrene, kadinene, d-limonene, terpineol, cineol, pinene,linalool, cinnamaldehyde, cinnamoic acid), bitter principles (absinthin, artabsin), iridoidic bitter principles (genciopikroside, amarogentin, amaroswerin, amaropanin), glycosidic bitter principles (menyanthine, foliamenthine, menthiafoline), gentisin, methyl ester of anthranilic acid, flavonoids (rutin, hesperidin, naringin), tannins, carotenoids, alkaloid (gentianine).
The Amara tincture is the bitter agent (amarum) used in case of loss of appetite (anorectia), digestive malfunctions (dyspepsia), low secretion of gastric juice (subacidity).
